Something must be done !!!
i guess you can call this a rant if you like but I was just at lion Arch with my 3rd character trying to find a group to do villainy.
it was imjpossible to get a group together seeing as everyone is using the CHAT CHANNEL for trading.
after numerous attempts to try ang get people to use the TRADE CHANNEL i get up trying to find a group.
Anet I am asking you to do something about this. the trade channel is there for a reason. there is no excuse for spamming the local channel with trades and I am sure there is something in the TOS about spamming. one of the defanitions of spamming is using something for soemthing other than it's intended use.
I am rather positive that since there is a seperate CHAT CHANNEL the purpose of the local channel is not for trade.
I am asking for something to be done about this as it is a very severe annoyance to say the least.
I will even go as far as to say ban accounts for repeat offenders. there has to be a way to monitor this be it moderators or whatnot.
thanks for your time

Definitely need an ingame dedicated /report function to take care of trouble makers and maybe even a way to add a instant screenshot along with it.

I just find it more than rediculous that this goes unchecked. not only does it ruin the game for people trying to get groups it is blatently agains the chat rules there yet nothing is done.
they can ban a borderline offensive name but for truly offensive things nothing is done.

ANet should ban these people. One warning first, then ban them for clogging up the channel with whatever crap they might be selling. I don't care for some godly sword with 2-6 dmg , I am LFG!!!

I had some jackass in Lions Arch tell me that District One was for trading, and if I wanted to talk to players, to go to another district.

ahh, finally something that actually does piss me off!!!
At first I figured these people spamming trade in local chat were just new and din't know their were seperate channels for trading, well, I politely told them how to access and use the trade channel, and to please use it, as local channel was not for trading.
No response. But he continued to spam.
Then I found him and walked up to him and opened trade box to get his attention, then I realised he was lvl 20 and about blew up!!
This was about 2 weeks ago, now you can't even decipher local chat from trade garbage in the local chat.. It's seriously pissing me off.
/report would be really nice, for trade spams in wrong channel and for any other innapropriate behavior in game

Just put an autofilter on "all" that sends every line with WTS, WTB
, WTT, buy, sell, trade and some others into the trade channel.

What are you guy talking about? Most of the spams I see in Lion Archs are colored in light pink which is the color of trade spam, is it not?

i know, just stand there in any towns and look at the local channel, it will quickly fill up with trade items or WTB message!
most of the time, if someone want to join a group, you message will usually get wipe out by wave of WTB, WTS message..

Yes, absolutely this is a huge annoyance. Trade spammers on the local channel. Ugh. Trader-freaks. Flay them alive witha vampiric whip of snarkiness, says I.
I would also like to see a GROUPING channel added. Then the local channel could be just for people to actually (gasp) talk to each other.

All Anet has to do is get a part time intern to stand in lions arch and give a warning to anyone that posts any trading message in 'All'. If they disobey the warning, kick them so they have to reconnect. Third offense, kick them for 10 minutes and so on.
Eventually everyone will get the point and no one will send any trading messages in 'all'.
Hell I'd do it for free, just give me the power and 10 minutes and you'll never see anyone trade in 'all' ever again.

I dont advocate spamming in the local channels, but sometimes leaving one or two WTB in the locals wont hurt anyone. i dont know about anyone else, but when im buying and selling stuff after a while the pink text starts to blur together... so sometimes the white text makes a nice change. and another thing, most people who spam their items, have local chat turned off, and vice versa, local people have trade channel turned off, so in order to maximize your potential buyers it only makes sense to put it in local and trade channels...

Leaving 1 or 2 WTBs in local channels will open the door for leaving 3 or 4 WTBs in locals, and that will open the door for leaving 5 or 6... In the end you will have local channels as trade channels.

Something definitely needs done about this. And while they are at it at a permanent filter for the words godly and noob in all their variations.. Every time I see those words I have to supress the urge to vomit all over my keyboard. "godly" is both overused and totally inaccurate.. there are NO "godly" items in this game.
As far as Noob goes.. I willing to bet that everyone but the idiots that use it constantly are about tired of seeing it chewing up screen space as well.

Banning people is stupid. Why would you ban someone for posting text? And the text isn't even racist or offensive for that matter. The fact that you can't get a group together sounds like a personal problem.
If it's that big of a deal, I'd suggest to Anet that a trading outpost be made.
Just a simple little town where people can trade items, etc.

Well, I always ask people who use the normal channel for trade to take it to the trade channel.
Ofcourse, banning people who use the normal channel for trade is overly harsh, and doesn't address the cause of the symptom, which is that GW's system is poor for both sales AND grouping. There needs to be a dedicated system for both (something which I've already posted about multiple times, so I can just hope that Anet is paying attention...)
To be fair, it's a bit of a consensus that district 1 and 2 are Trade Districts, and so it would be EASIER if you did go to another district to group. Not saying there's anything against doing it in 1 or 2, but you are making it needlessly hard on yourself.
Finally, Galrath is easier to complete from Temple of Ages. 2 extra party members, plus 30% less walk.

Yeah I agree sometimes the spam on the local channel for WTB WTS WTT wahtever gets too annoying which then forces me to basically shut off all of the channels besides my guilds channel which it shouldnt have to be that way. anyways maybe a traders district should be added in? thus aleavieating the spammers on the local channel, I know that anet has taken steps to reduce the spam by puting in timers between msg's you can enter in but still when im looking for a group for a mission or wahtnot I dont want to compete with WTS: MAX DMG - FIERY FELLBLADE OF FORTITUDE - PM ME!!! so yeah maybe a trader district or an autoboot system that boots you after so many repeated msgs???
